About the Artist
MR. SHOW MEβS ART
About the Artist
I am Ortega F. Missouri, an African-American artist, illustrator, educator, and creator from South Carolina. I have a B.A. in Art Education from Claflin University and a M.F.A. in Illustration from SCAD. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my purpose has grown beyond simply creating beautiful images.
I create art that tells our stories.
As a Black artist, I understand the importance of seeing ourselves represented with dignity, strength, intelligence, love, creativity, and pride. My artwork is inspired by our history and our futureβfrom the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors to the dreams and accomplishments of the generations coming behind us.
My background as an artist and educator has taught me that an image can do more than decorate a wall or a shirt. Art can teach. Art can inspire. Art can preserve history. Art can create conversations. And art can remind people of who they are.
That belief is at the heart of Mr. Show Meβs Art.
Wear Your Story
When you wear a Mr. Show Meβs Art T-shirt, you aren't simply wearing a design.
You may be wearing the story of an ancestor who refused to give up.
You may be celebrating the power of the Black family.
You may be honoring Black love.
You may be representing the legacy of an HBCU.
You may be reminding a young Black King or Queen of their greatness.
You may be expressing your faith, your culture, your history, or your pride.
Whatever the design, the goal is the same:
To create artwork that means something.
Because our stories deserve to be seen.
Our history deserves to be remembered.
Our culture deserves to be celebrated.
And our children deserve to see images that remind them of their greatness.
