ABOUT ORTEGA MISSOURI

Mr. Ortega F. Missouri (www.facebook.com/mrshowmeart) is an African American artist/illustrator from SC who creates digital and mixed media art. He has a B.A. in Art Education from Claflin University, M.F.A. in Illustration from Savannah College of Art & Design snd an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from Cambridge College. While at SCAD, Ortega created an illustration for the Advertising Federation of Charleston.
Duties and responsibilities were to illustrate the Charleston ADDY Awards Call for
Entries Poster with fellow students using various media. The poster won a gold ADDY
for ad club self-promotion from the Advertising Federation of Charleston. In 2001, he
received his Master of Fine Arts in Illustration. Shortly after graduating from SCAD, he
started teaching Visual Art. XXL magazine recognized the work of Mr. Missouri and
asked him to create an illustration for the August 2003 issue. He has a motto that
describes his artwork and himself, which is "Silent with a Loud Voice". Mr. Missouri
believes that the saddest thing in life is wasted talent.
